Description
Gua Sha
A Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine scraping technique believed to improve facial circulation, promote lymphatic drainage and reduce inflammation. As a result, it can reduce puffiness and improve skin tone as it stimulates blood flow, improves circulation and moves lymphatic fluid.
The gua sha can also promote muscle relaxation in the face, releasing tension in the facial muscles, making it a wonderful addition to your self-care routine. You may also like to use your gua sha to relieve sinus tension or headaches, or simply as a source of relaxation at the end of the day.
With regular use, some people find that gua sha helps to lift and contour the face, creating a more defined appearance as it exercises and stimulates the facial muscular region.
This gua sha is crafted from Jade.
DIRECTIONS FOR GUA SHA
Step 1: Cleanse your gua sha and your face.
Before beginning, ensure your gua sha is freshly cleaned, to ensure no residue from previous uses end up in your pores.
Next, begin your routine by cleansing your skin with the Paudha Healing Clean and Balance Oil. A gentle cleanser, formulated to maintain your skins natural oils.
Step 2: Apply your facial oil, using your hands first.
Apply a small amount of Paudha Healing Nourish & Repair Oil to your face and neck using your hands, try not rub it into your skin too much as it will help smooth out your skin as you apply the gua sha. This nourishing oil will ensure there is minimal irritation or friction whilst applying your gua sha.
Step 3: Jawline & Neck
It is best to maintain an angle of 15-45 degrees whilst using your gua sha. Practice what feels right to you, the gua sha should feel comfortable within the curves of your face. Using the flat edge of your gua sha, gently apply a light pressure, and glide along your jawline first, then down your neck. Repeat 8-12 times. Be sure not to apply too much pressure, just enough to stimulate your skin.
Step 4: Cheeks & Smile Lines
Using the flat edge, glide your tool from the corner of your mouth outwards towards your ears. Allow the tool to sculpt into your lower cheeks, as you use it. Repeat for 10-20 times each side. Next, follow the curve from your ears, down your neck, this will encourage lymphatic drainage. Repeat 10 times.
Step 5: Cheekbones
Using the u-shaped curve of your gua sha tool, glide along your cheek bone working from the centre of your face, outwards towards your hairline. Repeat 10 times from centre to the left side, and then another 10 times from the centre to your right side.
Next, use the U-shaped edge of your gua sha tool, with the longer end at the top at a 15-degree angle to glide along your cheekbone, moving from the centre of your face outwards to your hairline. Repeat 10 times on each side to lift and contour the cheek area.
Step 6: Under the eyes
It is important to be gentle under the eyes, not to stretch or pull the skin. This is a very delicate area. Using the flat side (not edge), softly glide along your gua sha under eye area. Begin from the inner corner of your eye, gliding outwards to your temple. You may like to apply the Rejuvenating Eye Serum during this time. Feel the cooling effects of the tool as you apply it to this area.
Step 7: Brows
Using the ‘u’ shaped edge of the tool, glide along your brow area from the centre of your brow to the outer edge. Try to apply the tool at a 45 degree angle to lift and shape the brows. Feel the tension release, particularly if you have a tension headache. Repeat 10 times on each side.
Step 8: Forehead
Starting from the centre, gently glide the long edge of the gua sha tool outwards towards your hairline. Apply a light pressure and upward strokes to smooth out fine lines and relieve tension. This is particularly good for headaches. Repeat 10 times.
Step 9: From forehead to neck
To finish, encourage lymphatic drainage starting from the middle of your forehead, moving past your temples, then downwards past your cheeks to the base of your neck using the flat edge of your gua sha tool. Repeat 10 times.
